Sunday Salon - June Round up.

Good morning Sunday Saloners.

I hope all my American friends had a lovely 4th of July yesterday. i am looking forward to hearing how you all spent this wonderful holiday.

What a week we have had. I have spent more time in my children's school than I had planned to, so everything at home has got a little behind. I actually have an ironing mountain! We have also had the hottest week that I can ever remember. It has made everyone very lethargic and has not helped to get jobs done.

I thought I would round up the books I have read in June and see where I am on my 100+ challenge. I managed to read 14 books this month, which is actually a record for me.
Here are the books I read this month.

1) Cinnamon City by Miranda Innes

2)Valiant by Holly Black

3) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

4)The Shop at Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber

5)Sanction by Jim Magwood

6) High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

7) The Funny Thing Is... by Ellen Degeneres

8) Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

9) Voodoo Season by Jewell Parker Rhodes

10) The Sea Wagon of Vantai by Steven R. Southard reviewed for You Gotta Read

11)Murder By Mistake by J.K. Maze reviewed for You Gotta Read

12) Betraying Chase by Donica Cavey reviewed for You Gotta Read

13) Take Two by Danielle Bronson reviewed for You Gotta Read

14) Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson - to be reviewed.

My top three favourites for the month were The Hunger Games, Wicked Lovely and Cinnamon City.

So a fabulous reading month, this month. I have read 67 books this year and we are only half way through it, so I don't see any problem in reaching my 100 mark by the end of the year.

This week I finished reading Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson and Getting to Manana by Miranda Innes. I gave up on A Kiss of Frost by Laurell K. Hamilton as it was just full of sex and rape and just a bit too much for my liking. I am definitely not a prude, but this went a bit to far for me.

I am presently reading The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong and An Angel in My Hair by Lorna Fitzgerald Byrne,

I do hope to get around to some reading later today, but as hubby is fishing and I have the girls to entertain, it probably won't happen until this evening. I hope you all have a great Sunday.

  2. You go girl! You did have an incredible reading month!

I hear ya about the weather. It is absolutely hot and humid here in Florida. There are days when it takes everything to get out of the air conditioned house and run errands. (I have to put my foot down if I break out into a sweat walking from the house to the car, lol).

Hope you have another great reading month in July.

  4. Congratulations on a great reading month! I hear you about feeling lethargic when it's really hot. Luckily it's been cold and rainy here. Most people are lamenting the lack of proper summer weather and would kill me for saying this, but I hate heat :P

  7. 14 books? There was me gloating at reading one in a day yesterday! (Still feeling unbelievably lazy that I did but I don't care *g*)

Way to go and keep the reviews coming, I'm finding some fabulous new authors through your blog. I know what you mean about struggling with books. I'm struggling with The Ressurectionist at the mo - not because of the subject matter - which is what made me get it in the first place, I really just can't get into it which surprises me as it had such rave reviews. Maybe it will surprise me when I finish it.
