I just could not resist this challenge! Carl over at Stainless Steel Droppings runs such fantastic challenges, that I can't wait to join in with them.
It does cross over with some books that I am reading for the Reliquiae Challenge, but that makes me feel better about taking on another challenge.
Here is what Carl has to say about the challenge.
It was a desire to celebrate and share that love of the elements of gothic fiction that inspired me to create the first R.I.P. Challenge, four years ago.
Readers Imbibing Peril, that is what it is all about. I hope you’ll consider joining us on this more eerie road less traveled.
Walk this way.

Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.
There are two simple goals to the R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril Challenge:
1. Have fun reading.
1. Have fun reading.
2. Share that fun with others.
As I do each and every year, there are multiple levels of participation that allow you to be a part of R.I.P. IV without adding the burden of another commitment to your already busy lives.
R.I.P. IV officially runs from September 1st through October 31st. But lets go ahead and break the rules. Lets start today!!!
I am going to read four books for the challenge, but knowing me and the fact that the nights are drawing in, I am bound to read more! If you feel like joining in, all are welcome, just click on Carl's name at the beginning of the post and and sign up.
I have been contemplating which books I might read. Here are a few possible choices.
1) The Night Watch - Sarah Waters
2) Angelica - Arthur Phillips
3) Jamaica Inn - Daphne Du Maurier
4) The Witch Hunter - Bernard Knight
5) The Monsters of Templeton - Lauren Groff
6) The Birthing House - Christopher Ransom
7) The Stepmother - Simon Tolkein
8) The Wishing Game - Patrick Redmond
9) Madam Crowl's Ghost - Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu
10) The Dante Club - Matthew Pearl
The best bit about this challenge is Carl is happy for us to start straight away! Hurrah!
Care to join me on a long dark and chilling walk into the depths of midnight! Ha Ha Ha!

Carl does run a great challenge. I love his Once Upon a Time challenge. I am swearing off adding any more challenges for this year so I will live through your reviews.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog about my first ARC's. I am so sorry to hear that they won't send to you over there! I promise when I do my next give away I will open it up to international participants in honor of you! I am probably going to do a cleaning the shelves give away soon.
Happy Weekend--
Kim
I see a great list of books. And one can never go wrong with du Maurier!
ReplyDeleteHere is my RIP IV read list
No, no, no, no. Just starting my 80's Fantasy Swap so I can't start another challenge. I might just have a little look though...
ReplyDeleteI love the avatar, how gorgeous is that? I've only read one Daphne Du Maurier and that was Rebecca. Loved it, one of my favourite books. Love the old b&w film too - one of my rescues when I'm stuck doing the dreaded ironing. Did you see Eastenders last night when Mintys girlfriend stuck on that dreadful b&w? Craig actually had the cheek to say it was me! I don't force him to watch my films unlike him with his Hannibal Lecters, James blimming Bond and Bourne stuff... anyway... where was I?
Um, yes, I might have to read a few more of hers. The others sound good too :)
I read Jamaica Inn for the challenge last year, and while not my favourite Du Maurier, it was a great read. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteSo happy about this challenge; iy was lots of fun last year..enjoy
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you're joining. I didn't realize Sarah Waters counted for this challenge! I'm considering adding Fingersmith to my list! I also have Jamaica Inn here, but I want to read Rebecca first as I've never read any du Maurier yet.
ReplyDeleteCraig is a complete EE addict. Only soap we watch but he has to watch it. Don't know how he survived last week without it... oh wait, yep. Fishing! *g*
ReplyDeleteYou are sweet about my duckies. I suspect if I continue making them at this rate I will have to do more giveaways as they are kinda taking over the house now :P
Arggh! That was me above. Devon not signing herself out again. She keeps doing that to me on UKS!! Sorry :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great challenge. Good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteI just gave you an award at my blog :)
You have a great list there. Interesting books!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for directing me to another challenge!
ReplyDelete*Shivers*
