Have you had a good weekend?

Hi everyone.

I am sorry I have been absent all weekend. It was one of those weekends when life just took over and I felt like my feet didn't touch the carpet in my house. On Friday, I went to see New Moon with my friend and I have to say it was absolutely fabulous. I actually thought it was better than Twilight. The film was a lot more action packed and the arrival of the pack of wolves really added a new dimension to the story. I think I may have moved my alliances from Team Edward to Team Jacob, as Edward looks so pasty and puny in comparison to Jacob.
My friend and I watched the film amongst a hoard of hormonal teenagers, not a wise move. Every time either Jacob or Edward took their shirts off, the audience went into a frenzy.
At the beginning they showed a preview of the new Sherlock film with Robert Downey Jnr and I have to say it looked out of this world. Being a lover, of Victorian Gothic, I just can't wait to go and see it.

After the film, my friend and I went to Nando's for some serious spices. I just love Nando's, I drown all my food in their extra hot sauce and then spend the next day wondering why my stomach hurts so bad. The food was extremely delicious; we had chicken wings, olives, corn on the cob followed by white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Yum!

Saturday was spent back in Essex, helping my husband's family empty my father in law's house. It was a very long day and very sad. It is awful to think that when we go all our possessions need to be redistributed so quickly. A very sad day.

We had really terrible storms through Saturday night, to the point where the rain was so heavy it woke the whole family up. I have never seen weather so bad in England, it was actually quite frightening.

Yesterday was a lovely day though, as my whole family went out for dinner for my mother's 70th birthday. We went for a Sunday roast at a local carvery and it was really lovely to spend time with my brother and his family, as well as my parents.

So, you see, I have been very busy and as you can imagine the reading has gone out of the window. I am even struggling to read in my normal evening slot, as I have become addicted to I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. I normally hate reality TV, but I just love watching these so called celebrities suffering.

I am really behind in my reviews, so I hope to catch up with them this week.
I hope you had a good weekend and I hope to get around to every one's blog throughout this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

  2. My, you really have had a busy week-end. Yet to see either of the films, Twilight should be arriving any day now, I've always been on Team Jacob, Team Edward was always too controlling for me. Funny how many people are turning from Team E to Team J after seeing the films.
Your right about the weather here. We didn't have it so bad Saturday night but last night was horrendous. I almost expected to wake up and find myself in Kansas.

  3. Glad to read your thoughts about New Moon. We'll all be going on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving in the US). Our group will range from teens to 50s so it should be fun to see the variety of reactions.
Sorry about the weather and the emotional time at your Father-in-law's house. It is a tough thing to do.
Sounds like you had a lovely time celebrating your mother's birthday. Have a good week!

  4. Can't decide if I want to watch that at the cinema or wait for DVD - I wasn't impressed with Twilight as a movie at all. Hmmm.

I feel for you having to deal with your Father in Laws house. We had to clear Mums the day after. Yes you read that right, the day after. She was Housing Association and they wanted their bungalow back. What with all the curtain twitching going on we felt like complete vultures. Not nice at all.

I'm glad to read the rest of the weekend was lovely for you - you really deserved a break. Don't worry about the book reading, it's an enjoyable hobby not homework ;)

  7. It sounds like you had a (mostly) good weekend. I'm glad you had a good time at the movie despite the hormonal teenagers. :)

  8. You have been busy.

It is so difficult and sad to clean out a loved one's home. My mother-in-law recently had to do it in her mother-in-laws home and she cried for days.

I hope you have a terrific week!

  10. It sounds like you did have a very busy weekend. When my husband and I went out to dinner Saturday night the restaurant was right next to a movie theater and so we were surrounded by tables of teenage girls preparing to see New Moon. :)

I was just flipping through the channels and caught some video footage of the flooding in England (they were saying the footage was from somewhere near the southern border of Scotland). It must have really been raining like crazy over there.

    I haven't heard of a carvery, but if they're serving roast I'm sure I'd love it! :)

  11. When I read your well-written posts, I imagine myself in lovely England. You've had more than enough rain--please send some my way. We're in dire need of rain in Southern CA.

We attended the 12:01 AM showing of New Moon on Thursday/Friday. It was a lot of fun, and my daughter and her friend will never forget the experience. I think many girls have now joined "Team Jacob". ;)

  12. That is so funny! I was thinking the same thing about Jacob in the movie... yowza Mr Tan man.... and Edward looked like he was dieing... well... er... I guess really he is dead.... sort of. :)

I loved the movie too. I thought it was very well done.

  13. I just talked to a friend who loved New Moon.
It sounds like you have really been enjoying yourself. Relax and go with it.
I am making a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for Thanksgiving. How ironic.

I hope to catch New Moon this weekend. :)

  14. Just from the previews alone I have to agree with you on Jacob vs. Edward but then I've never been an R. Patz fan. My husband and I saw an ad for Sherlock Holmes last night - it looks REALLY good.

  15. I am glad to know that your reading wenyt by the wayside because, aside from a sad day on Saturday, you had some very nice weekend plans! The rain sounds terrible and I'm happy it was gone by the time you were up and about on Sunday. I don't like cleaning out loved one's rooms or homes after the are gone although occasionally things are found that bring up some wonderful memories.

The books will wait for you & the reviews will get done, No worries. Enjoy yourself =o)
