Typically British Challenge Wrap Up and Competition Nearly Closing.

I have to excuse my absence from the blogging world this weekend. I had such a busy weekend, I thought it was easier to just stay off completely than attempt to play catch up. Sometimes life can just be take over and you just don't have time for anything else.

I had my monthly scrap day on Saturday, so I have lots of new pages to show you at the end of the week. Then yesterday we went ten pin bowling with our friends and then on to a Chinese buffet where I ate far too much food, but how can you resist with all that food laid out waiting to be tried.

Anyway todays post is wrapping up my first completed challenge of the year. I read 8 books for the Typically British Challenge and quite frankly being British, this was an easy one for me to complete.

Here are the eight books I read.

1) How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff

2) Skellig by David Almond

3) The Seance by John Harwood

4) Thaw by Fiona Robyn

5) The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters

6) Jackdaw Summer by David Almond

7) White Is For Witching by Helen Oyeyemi

8) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

This challenge brought me the joys of reading David Almond and Jane Austen, two authors that I now can't wait to read more books by.

My least favourite book had to be The Seance by John Harwood, but I am not going to give up on him, as I have heard his other book is fantastic.

This challenge is still open until the end of the year, so if you feel like joining in, please click here and head over to Book Chick City to join in.

So that is one challenge down and about another 14 to finish, without the addition of the Once Upon a Time challenge which I am sure starts soon and the Non Fiction Five one also starting soon. I think I might need to kick it up a gear in order to get a few more challenges finished.

Don't forget my competition to win Thaw finishes this Wednesday and so far I have very few entries, so there is a good chance of winning. Click here if you want to enter to win.

  2. Congrats on finishing your first challenge. I am sorry to hear that you didn't like The Seance. I actually really liked it. The Ghost Writer is much better, but I still liked The Seance very much. I hope you get to read The Ghost Writer nonetheless.

  3. Congratulations on completing the book challenge, I'm going over there to see just what is involved. I haven't read a single book on your list but after hearing you mentione Pride And Prejudice several times I'm slowly wavering and considering reading it.

Molly -Sarah Waters was brilliant and I hope to read Fingersmith soon too.

Kaye - being English, I feel it was a bit of a cop out challenge. I read so many English books anyway.Perhaps I need to broaden my geographical horizons a bit.

Kathy - it was far too busy. I have a really busy week ahead too and I am struggling to fit everything in.

Suko - don't worry, you have loads of time.
