Yay me!

You will all be pleased to know that I successfully completed my October Trial Run of NaNoWriMo and presently have a 50,000 draft saved on my computer. I have produced a first draft of a Young Adult supernatural story that has a beginning, middle and an end. Yay me!

I have also successfully begun the official NaNoWriMo challenge with a whole new Young Adult story which at present does not have an ending. Am I worried, NOOO! I have to admit that it is lovely to be writing with over 150,000 people all over the world at the same time. Although I will have to stop reading everyone's word counts as they are beginning to make me rather nervous, especially when I spoke to one young lady on Facebook on Monday evening who had just written 11,000 words. My aim is to write 2,000 words a day rather than the 1,670 that is the ideal word quota. If I am at home a lot during the day, I aim to write more. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

If you are participating in NaNoWriMo and you want to link up as a writing buddy then you will find me listed as viviennejane. I have only just managed to put my picture up, so you will see me tucking into a lovely doughnut.

I may not be around as much as I would like this month, but I will try and post as much as I can. I hope to visit all your blogs later today too.

Thanks for all being so supportive this month. I have put my word count up at the top of my screen for all of you to keep an eye on my progress.

Onwards and upwards.

  8. Oh I meant to join up this November but ugh this month is just going to be too crazy and I know it. Maybe I'll do one of the off months when things calm down. Like they ever do! haha

2,000 a day seems perfect to me - that's what I shot for also when I've tried Nano in the past.

Good luck and so much CONGRATS on finishing your October Novel!

  9. Hi, Vivienne! I tried to add you as a writing buddy today, but it kept showing a page that had a "cannot connect" message. So I don't think it took. I'll try later...

I thought you had added me, but before I could click on it, I wanted to make sure to update my word count. Then when I came back, your name had disappeared!

Obviously I'm still trying to navigate around the site!

But before I tried to enter you, I noticed that you have an impressive word count so far.

    Congrats!

  11. Fantastic, Vivienne! You must be so proud of yourself!! I am! Congratulations. How amazing & wonderful to have a first draft of a full novel! Will the novel you write in November be a completely new, different one or will you be editing the 1st draft novel?

Keep up the good work. And no worries about other people's word counts. I'm sure everybody's progress has its ups and downs.

I'll be thinking of you and cheering you on!

  12. 11,000 in one day? whoa. Wow.

I'm trying to limit myself to 2500 a day now that the initial push is finished. I want to go slower this year!!

Good luck to you, and see you at the finish line!!

  15. First--congrats on finishing your test run so successfully!!! That's fantastic Viv!

Second, don't focus on other people's numbers so much. I know, I know. But you don't know what kind of drivel they're writing to get to 11,000 words so quickly! ;) You'll be fine.

  16. Go Viv! I think I could write a manual with 50K words but a story??? Hmmm... I don't know about that. You're my hero!

  18. So I couldn't stand putting my novel aside any longer, even though I feel my odds are slim, especially starting late - I signed back up and started writing. Just added you as a buddy!
