British Books Challenge

British Books Challenge 2011

OK I know, I made this big speech about not joining in with any challenges this year, but I have buckled.  I hate to be left out of things and this challenge just seemed far too appealing.

So I have now joined up for the British Books Challenge hosted by Becky over at The Bookette.

There are two different entry categories. One for the British bloggers called Home Grown and another one for our international friends living overseas.

As you would have guessed, I am going for the Home Grown category and aim to read 12 books through the year. Though being a little bit competitive, I have my eye on winning the Crown by reading 50 books by British authors.

So I have been thinking carefully about some of the books I would like to read and I thought I would write just a small list to get me started.

So here are a few of the books I hope to read to reach this challenge.

The Fire Eaters by David Almond
The Thirteen Curses by Michelle Harrison
Blood Red Snow White by Marcus Sedgwick
The Woman In Black by Susan Hill
Mrs De Winter by Susan Hill
 Breathe by Clive McNish
 Angel by Clive McNish
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
One Day by David Nicholls
The Declaration by Gemma Malley

I am sure there will be lots of others that I will want to read but this little list will do for now.

  2. Good luck with this challenge, Viv! Hope to see the Brits being presented as nothing but awesome (of course!) in these reads. ;-)

  3. This is one of the few reading challenges I've joined this year as well, it's been such fun. You've got great authors on your list - David Almond, Marcus Sedgwick. I'm hoping to read Thirteen Curses soon as well :)

  4. I love Angel and Blood Red Snow White. You are in for a treat.
Wintercraft is a British book so you can add that on your list too. (I see you're reading it now).

Thanks for signing up. It is great to have another aspiring writer taking part. x

  7. Well, you were able to hold out for a month before joining any challenges :)

I didn't realize Susan Hill wrote Mrs. De Winter. I remember when that book was getting all sorts of buzz given. Hmm, I really like her writing so I may need to add that to my list!

Have a great time with your challenge and hope you can win the Crown!
