Three More Challenges

I have found three more challenges to join. Here are the details in case you want to join in too. You can follow my progress by checking my challenge page at the top of my blog.
If you are like me you have a mountain of unread books that you have purchased over the years and are now gathering dust on your shelves. Well I want to do something about this through 2013,so I decided to join this challenge to help me. I hope to read 12 books this year but if I reach that easily I will aim for the next level of 24 books.
Here are the details of the challenge.
Challenge Levels (I've adjusted the levels just slightly this year):
Pike's Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Vancouver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR piles/s
Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
El Toro: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s
And the rules:
*Once you choose your challenge level, you are locked in for at least that many books. If you find that you're on a mountain-climbing roll and want to tackle a taller mountain, then you are certainly welcome to upgrade.
*Challenge runs from January 1 to December 31, 2013.
*You may sign up anytime from now until November 30th, 2013.
*Books must be owned by you prior to January 1, 2013. No ARCs (none), no library books. No rereads. [To clarify--based on a question raised last year--the intention is to reduce the stack of books that you have bought for yourself or received as presents {birthday, Christmas, "just because," etc.}. Audiobooks and E-books may count if they are yours and they are one of your primary sources of backlogged books.]
*You may count any "currently reading" book that you begin prior to January 1--provided that you had 50% or more of the book left to finish in 2013.  I will trust you all on that.
*Books may be used to count for other challenges as well.
*Feel free to submit your list in advance (as incentive to really get those books taken care of) or to tally them as you climb.
*A blog and reviews are not necessary to participate. If you have a blog, then please post a challenge sign up and link THAT post (not your home page) into the linky below. Non-bloggers, please leave a comment declaring your challenge level--OR, if you are a member of Goodreads, I will once again put together a group for the challenge there. Feel free to sign up
HERE.  And, finally, I am contemplating a review tracker for this year.  I will post a link if that works out.  ***UPDATE: Review may now be posted at links found at Review Headquarters (click link).

If you would like to take part too, please click here.

This is one that will help me work through my new ebooks and Netgalley reads. I hope to achieve the third level (25 ebooks) on this one.
Challenge Guidelines:
  1. This challenge will run from Jan 1, 2013 – Dec 31, 2013.
  2. Anyone can join, you don’t need to be a blogger. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to sign-up in the comments. You can post reviews to any book site (i.e. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Goodreads, etc).
  3. Any genre or length of book counts, as long as it is in ebook format.
  4. You can plan your books in advance or as you read them.
  5. When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post about joining the E-Book Reading Challenge.
  6. You can move up levels, but no moving down.
  7. Sign-ups will be open until Dec 15, 2013, so feel free to join at any time throughout the year.

NA Banner
With the emergence of NA and so many of them already on my Kindle, I really wanted to take part in this challenge. I'm going for the Living On Your Own level of 20 books.
Here are the rules:
  • The book must feature a protagonist who is past the average age for graduation from high school (18 in most places) and under 30. If they’re exactly 18, you can make the judgment call based on content. (If the majority of it is set in high school, it’s probably YA.)
  • They don’t have to be contemporaries! Fantasy, dystopian and paranormal fans rejoice, your books count too. As long as the characters fall into the comparative age group on whatever planet or in whatever world, it works.
  • You don’t have to have a blog to participate, but you must post your reviews somewhere accessible online (like Goodreads).
The Levels:
  • Just Graduated: Read a minimum of 5 New Adult books
  • Moving Out: Read a minimum of 10 New Adult books
  • Living On Your Own: Read a minimum of 20 New Adult books
  • Fully Independent: Read a minimum of 30 New Adult books
If you’re looking for inspiration right now, here are a few Goodreads Lists you can check out (I have nothing to do with any of these and you’ll want to double-check them before you read to make sure they qualify):New Adult/Post HS Books
New Adult Literature
New Adult Contemporary
New Adult of 2012 (includes some good paranormal and fantasy)New Adult Dark & Gritty
Speculative New Adult Fiction
New Adult Fantasy Series’
And the best resource of them all, NA Alley
Edit to add: I started a Listopia at Goodreads that you can feel free to add books that fit to: 2013 New Adult Releases

  1. I love the idea of the TBR Challenge, but I think I'd struggle with it too much. I feel so guilty when I choose a non-review book over a review book.
