‘I’m afraid,’ said the little girl sitting on the bed. ‘Grandfather, can you stay with me?’
Aloysius Starkweather made an impatient noise in the back of his throat as he drew a chair closer to the bedside and seated himself. The impatient noise was only part in earnest. It pleased him that his granddaughter was so trusting of him, that often he was the only one  who could calm her.

Goodreads Summary
Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.

How on earth do I write a review of this book without giving anything away? I don’t think I can. It is so hard to put into words how this book made me feel without giving spoliers. I’m really quite distraught the Infernal Devices series is at an end. Originallymy favourite was the Mortal Instruments series, but this book broke me and stole my heart. So much emotion ripples through the pages as the characters are hit time and time again with distressing situations. By the end of the book, I was spent. The epilogue had me weeping so much.
The intensity of the relationship between Tessa, Jem and Will is one of the finest and romantic I have read in ages. It didn’t bother me that Tessa loved both boys. I understood and accepted that as a reader, making the epilogue easier to accept. The acceptance of  how both boys felt about Tessa, was beautifully written. Will and Jem were so close, they always thought of the others feelings first. Neither would do anything to hurt the other.
I loved the development of Will’s sister Cecily in the book. She showed that she had a lot of Will’s fiery spirit in her as she fought alongside the Shadowhunters. Her growing relationship with Gideon was an interesting sub plot, especially as he needed to change his alliance and feelings towards the inhabitants of the Institute. You could see her physically melting his heart.
The story takes on a slower pace than previously set by the other books, but the feelings are so much more intense in this one. Previous loose ends are tied up and we finally discover Tessa’s true past.
I just can’t believe this series has finished. The epilogue stays with you long after you read the the last sentence and you find yourself pining for the characters. I loved them all so much and I’ll miss them terribly now the series had ended. Though now I have my suspicions a couple of them might turn up again somewhere else, if the timing of the epilogue is to be believed.
A stunning and satisfying end to a brilliant series.
