The Official Poster for International #BookgivingDay

I'm so pleased to be part of the team showcasing the brand new official poster for International #BookgivingDay! Isn't it gorgeous?

Designed by the critically acclaimed Canadian author and illustrator of The Lion and the Bird, Marianne Dubuc
This poster will be available to download. Libraries, schools and bookshops all over the country will be encouraged to display this stunning poster to celebrate the love of books and reading, as well as encouraging people to give books to children on International Book Giving Day on the 14th of February.

This is the 5th year in which International Book Giving Day has run and it has grown from strength to strength around the world, including countries such as Nepal, India, Australia, Fiji and many many more.

The simple idea behind #bookgivingday is that you give a book to a child on the 14th of February. There are many ways you can do this. In previous years, books have been sent to the refugee children in Calais. Books have been donated in many different ways over the last few years. Here are a few more examples.

Let's turn the commercialisation  of Valentine's Day on it's head by spreading the love of reading with books!

How can you take part?

1) Give a child you know a book.
2) Leave a book in a waiting room for children to read.
3) Donate a book to a library, hospital or shelter.
4) Donate a book to a school.
