Charity Shop Finds

I am a bit of a compulsive charity shop hunter. I only go in searching for one thing - books! This is the best time of year to go book hunting in charity shops, because everyone normally has a clearout to make room for all those new books they got for Christmas, so you are likely to find some real bargains. I always enjoy getting a book for 70p that is still currently selling as a bestseller in Waterstones. It is also good for finding that book you've been searching for for years.
I went in on Saturday and picked up the following three books.
The Kate Mosse one, I have been after for awhile, as I already have Labyrinth. Both books are set in Carcassonne, but in very different time periods. I am looking forward to reading them both.

Then We Came to the End is one of the Richard and Judy books for 2008, it is meant to be very funny, set in an office, which makes me wonder if it has elements of The Office in it.

The Ancient, grabbed my attention because it was written by Muriel Gray. As a child, I used to watch Muriel Gray on The Tube with Jools Holland and the late Paula Yates. After realising it was the same lady, I was intrigued to read it.

The blurb on the book says 'Amongst the mountains of trash in the backstreets of Lima, three young boys are trying to raise an ancient demon. That night, a teenage drugrunner is gunned down. As his killers walk away, his body stirs. Not because it still contains a spark of life - but because something is stirring beneath it. ' Apparently it will appeal to Stephen King fans, so I look forward to reading it.

I am still doing my picture a day challenge, I just haven't loaded them up for the last three days,so here they are.
They are in order. I decided to concentrate on aspects of my house this week, but day had to change as we had our first little bit of snow. My poor Beetle Harvey is covered! I do hope it's not the last of the snow!

The first pic is the view from my desk, the second my kitchen wall which eventually when I sort out frames will be covered in pics of American Diners. The third is the view out of my bedroom window.

Well that's all for today, I can hear my ironing yelling at me from upstairs.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. The only thing better than cheap books is free ones;-) I may have to check out Goodwill this week, even though I have more books than I can read. You can never have too many! I love your kitchen. Cute idea.
