Monthly Roundup for June.

OMG, my worst reading month ever. I have only finished six books completely, as well as a read along, which has been going on for a couple of months. It has been a really busy month though and quite a few evenings I have just chilled out in front of the television due to being so tired.

You may remember that in my last roundup post I listed a set of books I wanted to read throughout the month. From that list, I only managed three books! Two had to go back to the library before I got to read them (The Tricking of Freya and The Lost House of Souls) and one was a DNF ( Dear Scott, Dearest Zelda). I am presently half way through another two books from the pile - The Hollow and White Cat, so that only leaves two books untouched to be added to next month's pile. I do plan to make a reading list for July, but I have had chance to do that yet, so hopefully I will get that done for tomorrow.

Anyway, here is the list of books I did manage to read this month.

1) We Hear The Dead by Dianne K. Salermi

2) Fair Play by Tove Jansson

3) The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King

4) Dewey - the Small Town Library Cat by Vicki Myron

5) Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness

6) Summertime by J.M. Coetzee

7) Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte ( read as a weekly read along.)

That brings me to a total of 65 books this year. I also finished the Support Your Library Challenge and read 25 library books for it. I have abandoned one of my challenges ( Every Month is a Holiday) as it requires me to read one book a month and I forgot about it the last two months. Sorry! I never quite finished the Once Upon a Time Challenge as I only managed four books instead of five. Never mind, I will try harder next year.

How was your reading this month?

  1. Having read 65 books you are doing better than me at not even 50. We all have periods when reading takes a back seat, here's to a better reading month this July.

  3. How did you like We Hear the Dead? I read this a couple of years ago when it was first published under a different title. Salerni is now with Sourcebooks and the new release is promoted for YA as well.

My June wasn't so great either. Actually, this year has been pretty bad for me. Can't seem to catch a break.

Hope your July makes you happier. I'm hopeful for myself too.

  4. I've been reading insanely the last three months. I'm a little burned out to tell the truth...

  5. That's a good amount for the year! Summer is a tough time for most, so I think you did a great job.

My reading was normal. I don't have any pressure. That said, I do have a set time I read. It's the same time I use to watch a lot of TV. If allergies are getting the best of me, I switch to audio books.

Anyway, give yourself a pat on the back! You've done well.

  7. 65 for year total is pretty good!

Did you find that it was easier to read after having pulling a stack of books that you wanna read? I've thought about doing that. Sometimes I get overwhelmed figuring out what i want to read next!

  8. I haven't had the heart to read Dewey. I am always good with those books until the end comes. I think 6 nooks is awesome. I had a high total this month, but very few dd I read in the month of June. I was mainly finishing up books that I had Had in progress.

  9. Wow. I'm impressed with your 65 books! I'm a very fast reader, but my life at the moment doesn't allow for as much reading as I'd like. I have also decided I can do read-a-longs, but challenges don't suit me very well. At least right now...

  11. My reading has really declined in the past couple of months. I think it's because now that I'm being more active after my health issues earlier in the year, I'm getting involved with a lot more projects and things and sadly my reading is suffering. I may have read about 5 or 6 books in June though so I guess it's not too bad. And, well, I'm enjoying life so that's a good thing :)

I think you are still doing great but I hope you can get to more books next month!

  12. I think you had a great month. I haven't been meeting my reading quotas at all this year. I still have updates to do over the last few months. I'm so behind.

  13. I'm starting to think June is just a horrible month for reading! So many bloggers have said that June was a bad month for reading. It was for me too! I'm hoping to read much more in July.

  14. You had a great month Viv. I've been waiting to try the Laurie King series; everyone seems to like her writing.

  15. I think you're doing fabulous - 65 books so far is awesome! I haven't a clue how many books I read in June. It was such a crazy month for us, and I'm kind of glad it's over and done with (although vacation was fun).

  16. I have found that my reading slows down in spring/summer also and I can't figure out why. Well, I do know why in the spring--we just get so busy with end of school year activities and baseball season for the boys.
I abandoned a couple of challenges--because just like last year, I am feeling unhappy being pressured to read certain books by certain times. I did not finish Once Upon a Time, but came close--I was one book short.

I say--summer is for fun. Lets revolt and read what we want when we want!!! ;)

  17. I still think you did great, Viv. I failed miserable at keeping up with my reading challenges. I even failed to finish the Sookie Stackhouse challenge! When I was packing for my move, I moved everything to Penang including the 3 books left in the series, so that literally "killed" my time to completion. :(
