Really Random Tuesday

Really Random Tuesday is a meme created by Suko at Suko's Notebook which is a way to post odds and ends--announcements, musings, quotes, photos--any blogging and book-related things you can think of.

Some exciting news about Marcus Sedgwick too from the lovely ladies at Orion. If you haven't read White Crow yet, then you MUST!

Marcus Sedgwick’s sales reach half a million copies

Orion Children’s Books is delighted to announce that Marcus Sedgwick’s sales across his titles to date have now passed over half a million copies in the UK.

First published by Orion Children’s Books in 2000, Marcus’s books have consistently garnered awards, nominations and high acclaim. His most recent novel, White Crow, was shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal and long listed for the Guardian Prize.

In October, Marcus’ novels for YA readers will move onto the newly formed Indigo list at Orion whilst his younger series, The Raven Mysteries, will remain on the Orion Children’s Books list.

Fiona Kennedy, Publisher of Orion Children’s Books and Indigo says:

“I’m proud of all of Marcus’s books and to publish them at Orion and now, Indigo. He is an extraordinarily gifted and truly talented author, whose writing is more accomplished with every new book. It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with him.”
Indigo announces THE SEVEN EVENT with Marcus Sedgwick:

To celebrate publication of his forthcoming novel, Midwinterblood, Marcus Sedgwick will be undertaking THE SEVEN EVENT on Wednesday 5th October 2011.

THE SEVEN EVENT will see Marcus Sedgwick doing seven different events to seven different audiences in one day. From Seven Stories in Newcastle at 7am to Foyles near Seven Dials in London at 7pm, Marcus will travel the length of the country meeting audiences and talking about Midwinterblood.

THE SEVEN EVENT celebrates the seven part structure and central themes of Midwinterblood: an epic tale of love, loss and sacrifice as two souls seek each other in different ways over seven incarnations.

THE SEVEN EVENT will be accompanied by a full programme of online activity and one of the special ‘SEVEN EVENT’ events will be hosted by Guardian Children’s Books online. Watch Fierce Fiction on Facebook for announcements and further news.
